about

The clanging you hear at the start is the sound of Trans Mountain pipeline being built in Burnaby, not far from the recording studio in Vancouver BC.

lyrics

We were born to disappoint everyone who cares enough to know us. A memory of a dream of a memory, ravens in the rain. Spectacular melancholia. I'll say it I'm ashamed, how I've treated women, caused them pain. Is it ever gonna change, will living ever start to feel less strange. Spectacular melancholia. What is disorder - a malicious innocence, a brutal elegance. The aging ingenue, precociousness no longer fits on you. Spectacular melancholia. At 14 I was listening to Rage smashing walls in my room and then on stage smashing bottles and electric guitars at 19 a bus stop and stolen cars. Is the truth a different colour, was I born, a glow around the edges of a storm towards dissolution then we veer in our 20s to overconfidence and fear. Who decides who gets judged or ascends. Is flying to the surface worth the bends if I don't create I start to disappear in the unreal I lose myself in that awful glare. At 14 I was listening to Rage
Against the Machine was it a phase teenage anger, a nascent depression
the final resting place of male aggression.
