about

Originally a City Streets song called "Like That Could Ever Happen" that we played occasionally while touring These Things Happen. This version is drastically different.
For Chelsea W.

lyrics

The years are passing by like books that you read but don't really understand. You've got your makeup on, hear a song in the mirror you start to cry. You just turned 19 you leave pieces of yourself at the bar every time you go. These people are all the same conformity is so widespread it's frightening. Oh, silence me. Chelsea is a friend of mine, that's not her real name but we'll call her that for now. We were almost lovers sometimes it's just as fun to make out in the backs of cabs. Back when we were younger I threw a party she kissed me on my front lawn, that's how we met. My life's always been like those scenes in movies when you start to roll your eyes - like that could ever happen in real life. When I can't sleep at night it's because my mind's wired with dark thoughts. Paranoid and scared you blame your head the enemy is still yourself. Shaking in the street c'mon man act tough, there's girls around - not tonight.

Every person at the funeral feels blue and tells themselves, "I'm gonna live better from now on."
